About Mandeville

Mandeville was established in 1973 and aptly named after the renowned Stoke Mandeville Spinal Hospital in Aylesbury, England. Mandeville Sports and Social Club continues to play a vital role in the development of and provision of facilities for athletes with disabilities in South Africa.

From humble beginnings, and with the guidance of an energetic former Paralympian and Club President (Andy Scott) the club committee have ensured that Mandeville has become the flagship facility for athletes with disabilities in South Africa.

The facilities include a multi-purpose indoor centre, an indoor aquatic centre, a bowling green, tennis court, archery range and a spacious club house that caters for table tennis, wheelchair dancing as well as social activities.

The club is overseen by a committee (mainly disabled members) and currently employs a full time manager/administrator, caretaker, barman, 3 ground staff and a housekeeper/cleaner.

Whilst Mandeville primarily caters for disabled athletes we also have social activities/club evenings where disabled members who are not sports orientated can also enjoy our facilities and interact with our other members both disabled and able-bodied.
